St George Illawarra Dragons prop Dan Hunt was on hand to help support a White Ribbon Function held at Hollymount Park, Woonona on Saturday.

The Dapto Canaries junior was joined by Dragons Community staff in attending the function arranged by both the Woonona-Bulli Bushrangers Rugby League Club and Relationships Australia.

The function served to raise awareness and help educate around the problem of family violence. 

The event aimed to engage boys and their families at the club to lead social change.

The education and awareness will assist to help change attitudes and behaviours promoting the prevention of violence against women.

The boys and their families were encouraged to take the White Ribbon Day Oath.

Teams were given education prior to the day at their training sessions around what is white ribbon and healthy relationships. 

After initial education the U16 team then facilitated talks to younger players about what is good sportsmanship and how they should play.

“A Best @ Fairest player” was nominated by each team on the day by the players and presented by the Dragons.
