The St George Illawarra Dragons took some time out of their busy pre-season training schedule to spread some holiday cheer at both St George and Wollongong Hospitals on Wednesday.

Dragons trio Dane Neilsen, Rory O’Brien and Tyson Frizell all donned their Santa hats to surprise patients within the St George Hospital Children’s ward with Dragons presents which took little time to be ripped open with the help of the players!

Likewise, Dragons trio Ben Creagh, Euan Aitken and Beau Henry followed suit at Wollongong Hospital where they worked closely with hospital staff to target long term patients and families in real need.

The Dragons captain and teammates provided them with Wollongong Central gift vouchers courtesy of the support from NRL One Community and Destination Wollongong.

“Christmas is regarded as one of the happiest times of the year and it is important that everyone gets the opportunity to experience this,” said Creagh.

“The players were proud to have been able to spread some holiday cheer and put smiles on the faces of those who might have needed to be cheered-up.

“Some of the people we met have encountered more challenges than most of us will see in our lifetimes so it was also a humbling experience which makes you thankful for what we sometime take for granted at this time of year.”
