St George Illawarra Dragons prop Jack de Belin is thriving at pre-season training and is keen to learn off new recruit George Rose.

The Cootamundra Bulldogs junior has welcomed his new teammate to the fold and learn from the experienced forward.

De Belin knows there is no gain without pain this pre-season as he builds towards a strong campaign next season and is aware of the onfield weaknesses that need to overcome.

“George Rose is a cult figure; he’s been around for a while and he has a lot of years of experience and that’s what we need here at the Dragons,” said de Belin.

“He’s a Grand Finalist and a Premiership winning forward and he’s bringing a lot of impact and size to the side; I know our Dragons fans are going to love him.

“Mary said he’d bring some hard truths to the team and he has; he’s very upfront and honest, sometimes we might not want to hear it but it’s for the best and it’s the only way we can improve.

“He’s a really great coach and he’s pushing all of us to new levels; he’ll take us into the 2015 strong.

“Mary was the change we needed at the Club; we got a bit stale and lost confidence but now we’re on our way.

“I seem to come into my own on the backend of the season so I want to go into next season with all guns blazing.

“It’s great to see some new faces around the Club, we have a lot of new personalities on board and they all bring good qualities to training.”
