St George Illawarra captain Ben Creagh has been officially ruled out for the remainder of the season with scans confirming he will need to undergo surgery to repair his ankle.

The Dragons skipper will undergo surgery to the ailment after consulting with both Club medical staff as well as a specialist and will commence his rehabilitation post the operation.

The University of Wollongong junior was forced to depart the field 12 minutes into the fixture against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Friday.

“Ben Creagh has had scans and follow-up specialist opinion over the last couple of days,” said Dragons Performance Director Andrew Gray.

“The decision has been made to undergo surgery this week to repair the damage to his ankle suffered early in the game against the Broncos last Friday.

“It is a relative minor procedure which will enable him to be fit to resume training at the beginning of the 2015 pre-season.”
