The St George Illawarra Dragons defeated the Gold Coast Titans 34-6 at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Sunday.

The Red-and-Whites scored six tries in the victory to help continue their hopes of a berth in the Finals Series.

Dragons captain Ben Creagh returned to the starting line-up to skipper the team after he overcame a hamstring strain sustained placed him on the sidelines last round.

The University of Wollongong junior's inclusion meant prop Mike Cooper reverted to the interchange with Jack Stockwell and Bronson Harrison both omitted.

The hosts were the first to gather points in the tenth minute when prop Trent Merrin provided a quick offload for halfback Benji Marshall to slot in next to the posts.

Dragons five-eighth Gareth Widdop converted to make the score 6-nill.

The home side extended their lead by four points when winger Brett Morris intercepted and raced the length of the field to score four minutes later.

The points kept on coming for the home side as winger Jason Nightingale collected a flick pass from his centre Josh Dugan and dove over the line.

Widdop converted to make the score 16-nill.

The hosts continued where they left off when play recommenced following the break and Widdop’s cross-field kick to centre Josh Dugan allowed the latter to score in the 50th minute.

Widdop converted to make the score 22-nill.

The Dragons struck again not long after as a line-breaking Marshall offloaded into the waiting arms of fullback Gerard Beale.

Widdop converted to increase his sides lead to 28-nill.

A quick dummy-half pass from hooker Mitch Rein found the barnstorming second-rower Joel Thompson in the 60th minute.

Widdop converted to make it 34-nill.

The Titans though made it onto the scoreboard with a try to winger Anthony Don in the 67th minute.

Titans five-eighth Aiden Sezer converted to make the score 34-6.
