The St George Illawarra Dragons High Performance Unit conducted a coaching session with a number of externally contracted players and other prospects in Orange on Wednesday.

Dragons HPU Manager Ben Haran, Recruitment Officer Brian Keegan as well as National Youth Competition team co-Head Coaches Ben Hornby and Dean Young visited Wade Park to facilitate a series of testing and skills based activities to see how the athletes were developing.

Players in attendance hailed from Orange, Oberon, Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo, Nungan, Cowra and other parts of Western NSW.

The recent visit to Country NSW underlines the Dragons commitment to the development of Rugby League at all levels and in areas within and outside traditional St George Illawarra Dragons districts.

β€œIt is always beneficial being able to visit these athletes and observe how their training regime is coming along,” said Young.

β€œAll the athletes demonstrated great commitments and the desire needed to make it as a first-grade player and they know their efforts will continue to be monitored.”
