St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team halfback Adam Clune has called on his teammates to start strong against the Penrith Panthers at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Sunday.
The Young Dragons were left short in their previous round encounter against the Sydney Roosters and had to wait until three minutes from time to secure the last gasp victory.
The pivot expects his teammates to have learnt from this occurance and has backed them to fire early against the Panthers.
“We were down 16-nil but the boys stuck together and after halftime we got back in it with our first try and built some momentum from that,” said Clune.
“We managed to hold on until the end and walk away with the two-points.
“I don’t think we turned up with the right attitude at the start of the match or do the little thing right which showed as our defence was poor and sloppy.
“This can’t be the case against the Panthers as we need to continue our form heading into the Finals.”
