St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition five-eighth Drew Hutchison is relishing his opportunities following his promotion to train with the first-grade squad.

The Albion Park Oak Flats Eagles junior was elevated to undergo the first-grade squad’s training regimen in recent weeks and has reaped the rewards with selection into the Illawarra Cutters line-up.

Hutchison, 19, was additionally selected in the NSW U20 squad for the State of Origin fixture against the Queensland Maroons in May.

“I am very humbled to have the opportunity to train alongside a lot of the senior players in the squad,” said Hutchison.

“This time last year I was starting to train with the Under 20’s squad following the completion of the Junior Reps season so to have received the call-up so soon is very satisfying.

"I am taking nothing for granted and know that there is a lot more I need to learn but being able to do just that around so many talented players, many of whom have represented their  state and country is unreal.”
