The Illawarra Cutters face the Newtown Jets for the Tom Kirk Cup at Henson Park, Marrickville on Saturday.

With this being the second meeting between the two teams this season, Illawarra will be hoping to recreate their success from the previous encounter earlier in the campaign.

The two teams will again play for the Tom Kirk Cup, a trophy that is contested each time the teams compete.

With the Cutters holding onto it at the moment, it will be an important motivator for the contest.

After suffering their first defeat in four games, the Illawarra side will be hoping to bounce back and push towards the top position on the ladder.

To help them do that this weekend is a very experienced team that includes players with plenty of first-grade experience including Adam Quinlan, Nathan Green and captain, Sam Williams.

For the Jets, a convincing win last weekend against the Wyong Roos sees them go into the game with plenty of confidence and will be tough opposition because of players such as Tautau Moga, Arana Taumata and Heath L’Estrange.

Heading into the game, the Cutters currently sit in fourth place after the loss last week, while the Newtown Jets are in tenth position, within touching distance of the top eight.
