Illawarra Cutters Coach Ian Millward is eager to see if the Cutters can carry their pre-season form into the regular season against Wests Tigers at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.

Millward admitted after the Cutters completed their pre-season trials by defeating Corrimal Cougars and Wooden Valley Rams that he had some tough decisions to make on the team he named for the opening round of the new NSW Cup season.

The Head Coach says that all the players have played well and shown a good attitude in training and it will be hard to select a team.

“The entire squad has shown a really great attitude all pre-season which is a testament to them,” said Millward.”

“It was hard to select a team for the opening round as they all did so well but its about keeping that momentum going.”

Cutters captain Ryan Carr is excited to start the regular season and lead the team out.

The Engadine Dragons junior said it was good practice playing in difficult conditions throughout the pre-season and knows the team needs to be ready for a tough Tigers outfit.

“We will be trying to get a good start against the Tigers and create a platform on which to and build on it for the season ahead,” said Carr.

“We have been building well on what has worked at training and now we need to apply it to the regular season.”

“We want to start off with a win next week and go from there.”
