The St George Illawarra Dragons suffered a 23-4 loss to the Rabbitohs in the opening match of their Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines campaign at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Rabbitohs enjoyed the majority of the possession throughout the match and scored five tries to the Dragons one.

The Bunnies opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Alex Johnston and Joel Reddy converted to give them a 6 nil early lead which is how the scored remained until the half-time break.

The Rabbitohs came our firing in the second half with three quick tries to Chris McQueen, Lote Tuqiri and Joel Reddy before the Dragons replied through Captain Brett Morris. Michael Witt was unsuccessful with the Dragons conversion attempt.

Rabbitohs halfback Luke Keary scored in the final minute to make the final margin 19 points.

The Dragons next match is against the Panthers at 7:25pm tonight local time against the Panthers.
