Stanley: Digging Deep To Impress

St George Illawarra Dragons utility Kyle Stanley is confident the Red-and-Whites will be focused and prepared when they take on Wests Tigers in their opening match of the season at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, March 9 2014.

The Hurstville United junior has his sights set on a coveted halves position but is aware of competition following the recruitment of both Gareth Widdop and Michael Witt.

The 22-year-old is seeking to impress after spending the entire previous season side-lined with an unfortunate ACL injury.

The draw was all over social media, its really exciting with our first round against the Tigers, said Stanley.

First round is a marquee game for us so its obviously going to draw a bigger crowd and were hoping all the fans will get out there and support us.

Everyone has put last year behind them and were all digging deep to get through this preseason.

Were three weeks into training and everyone is having a go, the vibe around the club is really good and everyone is positive.

I wouldnt say weve let our supporters down, its just something that happens and Im sure every club goes through it.

It was a dark time for us last season and we just want to push forward for 2014.

Im holding up really well; I should be back into full training next week and Ill be pushing for that halves spot with all the other boys.

We have two of the best wingers in the competition and Duges at fullback and everyone knows what he can do and there will be a few boys vying for centre position also.
