St George Illawarra Dragons centre hopeful Gerard Beale is delighted to be back training and is eager for what lies ahead in 2014.

The New Zealand international aims to approach the pre-season with a positive frame of mind after suffering a season-ending ACL injury early last term.

The 23-year-old is excited for the competition new signings have created as he vies for the role of centre alongside new recruit Dylan Farrell, young gun Charly Runciman and Kyle Stanley.

Im really excited to get back into pre-season, said Beale.

Everyone dreads it but for me, especially missing the last half of the season, I just want to get back out there and play football.

Im happy to be back in training with the boys and now its about getting ready to play football and preparing for round one.

My goal is to get back out on the field and play some consistent football.

I want to have a good season as well as the Club and there is a positive vibe around the place.

Its exciting having a few new signings as it adds to the competition for starting spots.
