Dragons prepare for Regional Blitz with Squadron Energy

The St George Illawarra Dragons will this week embark on the club’s Regional Blitz powered by Squadron Energy.

The Blitz is a part of the Dragons’ and Squadron Energy’s continued commitment to community engagement following on from a successful Indigenous Round Jersey launch in which the latter courageously removed their logo from the torso of the jersey to feature the artwork in its entirety.

NRL stars Jaydn Su’A and Hayden Buchanan will be joined by Ricky Walford and Nathan Blacklock for the club’s two-day Best You Can Be Blitz.

The crew will be making stops at Gilgandra Public School, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Gilgandra and Gulargambone Central School whilst assisting with the Walford, Rose and Wright Shield in Walgett.

Students from Walgett Public School, St Joseph’s Primary School Walgett, Gulargambone Public School, Collarenebri Central School, Goodooga Central School, Brewarrina Public School, Baradine Public School, Burren Junction Public School, Rowena Public School, Coonamble High School, Wee Waa Public School and Lighting Ridge Public School will be on hand for the day.

A Win The Morning event will also be held on Wednesday at Global Village Cafe in Coonamble.

Each stop will consist of a series of interactive workshops for local primary students centred around the club’s health and wellbeing program, ‘The Best You Can Be’.

Now in its 12th year, the program focuses on helping students make positive choices around health and wellbeing.

The workshops include advice on staying active, learning how to practice tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness, the importance of good sleep, screen time management, hydration, and nutrition as well as the important role we play in taking care of the environment.

Hayden Buchanan says the club is thankful for Squadron Energy’s continued commitment to and support for community initiatives.

“It’s so exciting to be a part of our club’s Regional Blitz,” Buchanan said.

“I grew up in the country myself and I’m fully aware of the impact that we can have as professional athletes on the next generation. We’re grateful for Squadron Energy’s support in putting this together. It’s important for our club to be involved in these initiatives; we’re looking forward to spending time with everyone and having a really good couple of days.”
