NRL Round 21 Match Preview: Dragons prep for Gutherson milestone at Jubilee

The Dragons are back at St George Venues Jubilee Stadium this Sunday to host the Gold Coast Titans as Clint Gutherson celebrates his 250th NRL appearance.

The club's ladder-leading Jersey Flegg squad will be in action prior to the main game at 11:45am against the Kaiviti Silktails – the competition's Fijian-based outfit.

Clint Gutherson is set to make his 250th NRL appearance when he runs out onto St George Venues Jubilee Stadium on Sunday.

Gutherson joined the Red V for the 2025 season and immediately earnt the respect of teammates and staff being named one of the club’s co-captains just a few months after arriving.

His first year as a Dragon proved a big one with the wily No.1 appearing in every minute of every game for his new club tallying seven tries, 16 try assists, and 152 average run metres as he claimed the Dragons Medal as NRL Player of the Year.

Hailing from Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Gutherson played his juniors with the Cromer Kingfishers before progressing through the Sea Eagles’ pathways system.

He made a try-scoring NRL debut for the Sea Eagles in Round 26, 2013 before injury setbacks limited him to just five NRL appearances over the course of three seasons.

He joined the Eels ahead of the 2016 season and would go on to spend nine seasons with the club earning City Origin nods in 2016 and 2017 and State of Origin call-ups in 2020 and 2023.

CELEBRATING OUR PAST PLAYERS

The club will be celebrating Past Player Day at St George Venues Jubilee Stadium on Sunday.

A host of the club's legends will be on hand for the day with the club also celebrating the St George Dragons' 1956 premiership-winning squad.

Skippered by the great Ken Kearney, the 1956 Dragons took down Balmain 18-12 in the decider at the SCG sparking an unprecedent 11-year run of success.

Legends Johnny Riley, John Dorahy, and Jason Nightingale will all be interviewed on-field pre-game as fans get the opportunity to celebrate some of the club's greats.

RAISING FUNDS FOR JAI ARROW

The St George Illawarra Dragons will be supporting Jai July at this Sunday's match against the Gold Coast at St George Venues Jubilee Stadium.

With the help of 50-50 Charity Raffle, the club will be donating funds to Family of League's Stand with Jai campaign.

A star for the Rabbitohs, Titans, Broncos and Maroons over a number of seasons, Jai Arrow was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) earlier this year.

SCORE DRAGONS ON SHOW

The Score Dragons will be back in action this Sunday and will take to the field at both half-time of the Jersey Flegg match and at its conclusion.

The St George Illawarra Dragons community program Score Dragons, now in its 11th year, continues to grow in popularity and is enjoyed by all involved.

The NRL highlighted its significance to community by presenting the Dragons with the 2015 NRL Community Program of the Year.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for all concerned and continues to put smiles on the faces of everyone.
