The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that Ruby-Jean Kennard-Ellis and Amelia Huakau have signed supplementary contracts for the upcoming NRLW season.
A native of Christchurch, Kennard-Ellis played her junior rugby league with All Saints Toongabbie before filtering into Parramatta’s pathways system.
The daughter of former-Dragon Ben Ellis, Kennard-Ellis made her NRLW debut with the Eels against the Dragons in Round 2, 2022 and went on to spend four seasons with the club playing 15 games.
A four-time Tongan representative, Huakau meanwhile hails from South Auckland and spent her junior days with the Wentworthville Magpies.
She made her NRLW debut as a 25-year-old with the Roosters in Round 3, 2020 before stints at Parramatta and the Wests Tigers.
“Ruby and Amelia are two really good additions for us,” Head Coach Nathan Cross said.
“To be able to add players of their calibre on our supplementary list is a fantastic result for us. Both have spent a lot of time in NRLW systems and provide us with a good level of experience. They’re both talented, hard-working players who we are confident will play a role for us this season.”
