Berry to depart Red V come season’s end

The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that Teagan Berry will depart the club at the end of the 2026 season.

Berry moved from South West Rocks to Shellharbour as a teenager to join the club’s pathways system, scoring a double in Illawarra’s 2019 Tarsha Gale Cup Grand Final win before scoring another double in NSW’s Under 18s State of Origin victory.

She debuted for the Dragons as an 18-year-old in 2020, whilst still at high school, and has since become the club’s all-time NRLW leader in tries (37), points (150), and appearances (41).

In 2023, Berry produced one of the great individual seasons, finishing atop the premiership’s try-scoring leaderboard, earning RLPA Players’ Champion and Dragons Medal nods.

The 24-year-old earned a State of Origin debut earlier this year, playing in all three matches of NSW’s series victory.

Berry admitted that the decision to leave the club was difficult, but that she remains committed to her Dragons teammates, staff, and fans this year.

“I have made so many great memories at the Dragons,” Berry said.

“This decision was certainly not an easy one. I am grateful that the Dragons took a chance on me when I was a teenager and gave me an opportunity to chase my dream. I am all in for 2026 and really want to finish my time at this club on a high.”

Head coach Nathan Cross echoed Berry’s sentiments and thanked her for her efforts up until this point.

“Teagan has been a massive part of this club since she was still in school,” Cross said.

“Whilst it’s disappointing that her journey as a Dragon is coming to an end, we have full confidence that she will put her best foot forward for the remainder of the season and do everything she can for her teammates.

"We wish Teagan all the very best moving forward and thank her for the incomparable mark she has left on our club.”
