Mathew Feagai to depart Dragons come season’s end

The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that Mathew Feagai will depart the club at the conclusion of the 2027 season.

Hailing from Leeton in the Riverina region of NSW, Feagai made the move to Wollongong as a teenager to link up with the Dragons Academy where he was a part of Illawarra’s 2019 SG Ball Cup title-winning side.

A NSW Under 18s Origin and Australian Schoolboys rep in 2019, Feagai made a try-scoring NRL debut for the Dragons in Round 9, 2021 and went on to top the club’s try-scoring tally the following year.

He was rewarded with an international debut for Samoa at the World Cup in 2022 in a winning effort against Greece in Doncaster.

“Mathew has been a valued member of this club since he was still at school,” CEO Tim Watsford said.

“Seeing him come through our Academy, go on to become an NRL player, and represent his country at a World Cup was so exciting for our club. He has been a great teammate and clubman, and we wish Mathew and his young family all the very best in their next chapter.”
