NRL Round 7 Match Preview: Dragons take on Rabbitohs at Homebush

The St George Illawarra Dragons head to Accor Stadium in Round 7 for a Saturday evening showdown with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The club's Knock-On Effect NSW Cup squad will also be in action in the lead-up to the main game with their kick-off slated for 3:10pm.

SOME FAMILIAR FACES

Both sides will be made up of some familiar faces with a number of players in this weekend's clash having been involved with both clubs.

At the Red V, Damien Cook, Jaydn Su’A, and Hame Sele all spent time at the Rabbitohs whilst Emre Guler came through South Sydney's junior system.

At the Rabbitohs, Matt Dufty – who is making his first NRL appearance since Round 12, 2022 – came through the Dragons system and spent the first five years of his NRL career with the club whilst Jayden Sullivan also debuted at the Dragons.

South Sydney Head Coach Wayne Bennett also has a history with both clubs having coached the Dragons to a Grand Final win in 2010 and a World Cup Challenge Victory in 2011.

  • Mathew Feagai comes into the centres with Moses Suli (eye socket) unavailable.
  • Jacob Halangahu and Josh Kerr find themselves in jerseys No.16 and No.17 having put together strong performances in the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup win.

RABBITOHS

  • Matt Dufty is back in the NRL for the first time since 2022 as he takes over from Jye Gray (shoulder) at fullback.
  • Lachlan Hubner comes into the back row in place of David Fifita (hamstring) in the only other change to the starting side.
