Junior Reps Report: Round 7

The St George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers competed in Round 7 of the 2026 NSWRL Junior Reps season over the weekend.

SG BALL

A late Zack Woodger try helped the Dragons come away with a 14-all draw against Souths at Collegians on Saturday. 

Dwyane Lyons and Taj Aufai-Farani found tries for the visitors to push them out to an early 8-0 lead.

Tries to wing duo Cornelius Pupualii and Samuel Mardini saw the Dragons storm back to lock things up headed into the break.

Taj Alvarez scored to wrestle the lead back the way of South Sydney mid-way through the second stanza before Woodger found a try 62 minutes in to again tie things entering the final stretch.

Despite late attempts, both sides were unable to manage a match-winner as each came away with one point.

SG Ball Round 7 Highlights: Dragons vs. Rabbitohs

Illawarra's tough SG Ball campaign continued with Shaun Timmins' men falling to the Central Coast Roosters 30-18 at Woy Woy Oval despite a late fightback.

A first half Bodie Jeffreys double – along with tries to Johnathan Mansour and Fynn Wilson – saw the hosts take a 20-0 lead into the sheds.

Beau Baldock found a try to get the Steelers on the board on the other side of the break before Mansour found a second.

Flynn O’Mara nabbed back-to-back tries for Illawarra to bring them back within six entering the final quarter of the match only for Jeffreys to secure a late try to seal it.

TARSHA GALE CUP

St George fell to the Rabbitohs 34-20 at Collegians on Saturday despite a second-half fightback.

South Sydney took a 28-12 lead into the half with a double to Keely Latta along with tries to Keilani Manu, April Chappell, and Markaylah Talanoa.

Manu found another to start the second half before Pypah Ferguson and Morgan Simon went over to bring the Dragons back within 14 but their fightback ended there as South Sydney held on.

Tarsha Gale Cup Round 3 Highlights: Dragons vs. Rabbitohs

A Kiara Kostovski hat-trick powered the Steelers past the Wests Tigers 20-8 in Camden in a boost to their finals chances.

Saige Tautalafua scored first for the hosts before a Kiara Kostovski double along with a try to Seriah Palepale propelled the Steelers to a 16-4 half-time edge.

Paige Attard scored on the other side of the half for the Wests Tigers before Kostovski snagged another late to secure a key win for the Steelers.

HAROLD MATTHEWS CUP

A furious finish was not enough to push the Dragons to victory over the Rabbitohs with the latter coming away with a 24-16 win at Collegians.

Tries to Zavier Suluvale-Liumaunu, Jackson Gray, Payton Tarau and Harry Dorahy saw the Rabbitohs earn a 24-0 lead with 20 minutes on the clock.

Maddox Barton, Seluki Halangahu, and Caden Burns all found tries for the Red V to cut the deficit back to just eight but it proved too little, too late as the Rabbitohs took home the competition points.

Harold Matthews Cup Round 7 Highlights: Dragons vs. Rabbitohs

The Steelers cruised to a 40-6 win over the Central Coast Roosters at Woy Woy Oval to improve to 6-1 on the year.

They leapt out to a 22-6 lead just 25 minutes in courtesy of tries to Kruz Efaraimo, Destin Tausala, Kahui Chase and Destin Tausala.

Preston Sager scored in the opening set of the second half for the visitors to keep the good times rolling before Pania Mahe and Ryland Coelho snagged late tries to seal it.

LISA FIAOLA CUP

St George fell to South Sydney 32-0 at in their Lisa Fiaola Cup clash at Collegians Sporting Complex on Saturday.

Cobi Ryan-Last and Bronte McKee each snagged first-half doubles along with a Jazmine Ballard try to make it 22-0.

Lexus Ogle joined the party for the visitors in the second half as Ballard managed another to put the icing on a comprehensive win.

Lisa Fiaola Cup Round 7 Highlights: Dragons vs. Rabbitohs

Illawarra were downed by the Wests Tigers 18-6 in Camden behind a late Zaiah Williams double.

Both teams held each other out in the opening stanza before Remy Roper crossed 33 minutes in to break the deadlock.

The Steelers hit the lead soon after via a Jesse Rayner try before the hosts finished strong courtesy of a try to Olivia Large and a double to Williams.
