The Dragons today continued the club's Best You Can Be Blitz across the South Coast with several NRL and NRLW squad members on hand.
Hayden Buchanan, Ella Koster, Kade Reed, Tahlia O’Brien, Leeroy Weatherall, Montaya Hudson and Tom Kirk made stops at Bomaderry, Nowra, and Nowra North Public Schools before hosting Respect Session for junior players at Lyrebird Park.
The visits were apart of the club's continued Best You Can Be Blitz with 35 schools and close to 3,500 students having now been involved in the program in 2026.
The Dragons 'The Best You Can Be' booklet is a resource which aims to assist teachers in encouraging children to make positive choices around health and wellbeing.
Focus topics within the resource include the importance of being active, tolerance, respect and inclusiveness, the importance of sleep, screen time management, hydration and nutrition.
Throughout the resource, Dragons players and ambassadors provide encouragement and offer tips which hopefully motivate students to be the best they can be in all aspects of life.
Reed, an Illawarra local and rising star, said he was thrilled to be able to give back and inspire the next generation of Dragons.
“I remember when I was a young kid and anytime you got to meet an NRL player or do a clinic you’d be buzzing,” he said.
“Obviously, we have a massive footprint here at the Dragons, so it’s important that we get out to these schools and junior clubs and just have a good time. The kids were excellent; they paid attention and got involved. It’s always great to be a part of it.”
