Dragons host Manly in annual pre-season scrimmage

Jubilee Stadium today hosted the Dragons’ annual pre-season scrimmage against the Sea Eagles as Shane Flanagan’s men continue on the road towards Las Vegas.

NRL officials were on hand to ensure the clash – which featured simulated match scenarios as well as match-flow periods – ran smoothly.

The hosts showcased some fine attack in the early exchanges with a pair of David Fale offloads sparking some quick inroads – one of which resulting in a Clint Gutherson try.

Both sides squandered opportunities soon after that before Jason Saab and Blake Wilson combined to craft a response for Manly.

From that point, both squads called upon extended squad members – including members of the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg squads who were called up for the day – as the scrimmage shifted to include more simulated match scenarios.

A number of the Dragons’ new faces got an opportunity to impress including Fale, Daniel Atkinson, Josh Kerr and Setu Tu.

The Red V will be back at Jubilee Stadium in a fortnight’s time to open their Pre-Season Challenge campaign against Newcastle.

It will be your first chance to see the squad back in action with new combinations forming and the unmistakable hunger of pre-season on display, so be sure to secure your tickets!

They face South Sydney the following week in the Charity Shield at WIN Stadium before attention turns firmly to the season opener in Las Vegas.
