Dragons sign playmaker Joseph O’Neill

The Dragons are pleased to announce that Joseph O’Neill has agreed to a deal which will see him join the club for the 2026 season.

O’Neill, who comes over from Canterbury, will spend the year on a development contract.

The 22-year-old captained Canterbury’s Jersey Flegg side to a premiership in 2023 before developing into a key member of their Knock-On Effect NSW Cup squad.

The Berala Bears junior has made 42 NSW Cup appearances over the past three seasons having spent the bulk of his time in the halves.

“Joseph is talented, young player and we’re excited to be able to bring him to the Dragons,” Head Coach Shane Flanagan said.

“He’s had plenty of success coming through the grades at the Bulldogs and is eager to continue to prove himself. He’s hard-working and he’s passionate about his footy. He provides us with some more valuable depth in the halves. It’ll be good for him to meet the rest of the squad and really hit the ground running this preseason.”
