Harvey Norman Women’s Wrap: Round 9

St George and Illawarra both competed in Round 9 of the 2025 Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership over the weekend.

ST GEORGE DRAGONS

The Dragons fell to Penrith 24-18 in a tight one at Jubilee Stadium on Sunday.

Bianca Cutrupi got the hosts on the board first before before Penrith surged ahead courtesy of three tries in 10 minutes to Jae Patu, Natalia Webb, and Abbie Grant.

Madison Swan went over for the Red V early in the second half to cut the deficit back to eight before the Panthers went back-to-back through Oriana Epati and Jacinta Tui.

Breanna Wood and Grace Hamilton found late tries for the Dragons to set up a grandstand finish but their fightback ultimately fell short.

ILLAWARRA STEELERS

The Steelers were taken down by the Rabbitohs 18-14 at Collegians despite an Ella Churchill double.

Churchill found her first just 11 minutes in before Abbie Ritchie and Shanelle Lyons went back-to-back for the visitors.

Churchill nabbed her second on the stroke of half-time to lock things up at eight-all.

Ritchie went over again early in the second half to put South Sydney back on top before a try to Luisa Yaranamua extended their lead.

Tahlia O’Brien scored a needed try for Illawarra with a little under 20 minutes to play but the Rabbitohs' defence held strong to secure the win.
