Boys and girls merit teams from this year's DV Awareness Cup this week stopped by WIN Stadium for a meet and greet with Dragons stars.
Students from St John the Evangelist Nowra, Nowra High School, Vincentia High School, Shoalhaven High School, Bomaderry High School and Ulladulla High School descended upon Bomaderry in June for the DV Awareness Cup.
Bomaderry Sports Complex hosted more than 200 students from Year 9 to 11 from across the Shoalhaven region competing in a rugby league gala day.
The Dragons joined forces with the NSW Police Force, community, and sporting and government agencies to educate school students about domestic and family violence through the initiative.
The DV Awareness Cup aims to bring awareness to, educate, and encourage people to take a stand against domestic and family violence.
During the day, Shoalhaven-based community organisations, including Anglicare, Waminda, Southern Cross Housing and Care South joined NSW Police Domestic Violence Officers (DVOs) and Youth Engagement Officers (YEOs) to educate and discuss with students and their families a range of issues with an aim to break the cycle of domestic and family violence.
A merit-based boys and girls team was selected at the conclusion of the event with selected players earning a trip to WIN Stadium.
