Connor Muhleisen was placed on report in the early goings for a dangerous tackle before another piece of Dragons ill-discipline handed the Raiders an attacking opportunity with Noah Martin pouring through a gap and finding a supporting Ethan Sanders on the inside for first points.
The Dragons managed a response a quarter of the way in through Tuipulotu who was the beneficiary of a spilt Lachlan Ilias bomb.
Canberra wrestled the lead back prior to the break thanks to Mitchell Prest who slipped through a pair of tackle attempts to dive over midfield and make it 12-6.
Lawson showcased some tremendous power on the other side of half-time to slide over in the left-hand corner for the Dragons' second of the afternoon.
Jonah Glover nailed the conversion from the touchline to tie proceedings at 12-apiece entering the final half-hour.
The Dragons notched their first lead of the match an hour in with Glover stepping up to nail a penalty goal.
The Raiders pushed back ahead soon after crossing off a wild, pinball-like sequence which included a pair of kicks and some fumbles before landing in the arms of Kain Anderson.

A Sanders kick produced another result for the visitors shortly after with Chevy Stewart pouncing on it to extend their edge after the Dragons were unable to defuse it.
Sanders put Martin through a hole moments later to propel the Raiders further ahead before Stewart snagged a second in the dying stages off another deft Sanders kick to seal it.
The Dragons now find themselves one competition point ahead of the third-place Eels with three matches to play.
