Dragons unveil 2025 Indigenous Jersey

The Dragons are proud to unveil our 2025 Indigenous Jersey which acts as a powerful celebration of the Dharawal community, its people, and the stories that have guided generations across land, sea, and sky.

Designed by proud Dharug man Kane Wright, the artwork brings to life the richness of the Dharawal calendar, the wisdom of Elders, and the deep connections between people, animals, and the environment.

Our NRL and NRLW squads will proudly wear the jersey on Saturday, August 9th in our local derby showdown against the Sharks at Jubilee Stadium standing united in recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the land on which we live and play.

At the centre of the design are six meeting places with each representing one of the six Dharawal seasons: Burruan (hot and dry), Marrai’gang (wet becoming cool), Burrugin (cold and frost), Wiritjiribin (cold and windy), Ngoonungi (cool becoming warm) and Parra’dowee (warm and wet).

Each meeting place is paired with an animal that embodies the spirit of that season creating a vibrant connection to Mother Earth and Father Sky.

Three of the meeting places reflect the strength of women as gatherers and nurturers, cultural educators, and spiritual leaders whilst the other three honour the contributions of men as hunters and providers, warriors and protectors, and storytellers and knowledge keepers.

Handprints throughout the design acknowledge the guiding presence of ancestors whilst flowing waterways represent the beautiful rivers and streams of the Dharawal region which are life-giving, connective, and sacred.

Footprints woven into the jersey speak to the legacy of Elders, their journeys, and the knowledge passed down over thousands of years.

Each element of the jersey invites us to reflect, respect, and learn from the world’s oldest continuing culture.

The Dragons will also be wearing an Indigenous Hoodie designed by Richard Campbell.

The hoodie design represents the deep connection between the earth, sky, and community.

The men’s space on the right reflects the knowledge and skills passed down through generations honouring their role in shaping the community. The women’s space highlights the nurturing and guidance that sustain the people celebrating the balance between nurturing and guidance that sustains the people.

At the heart of the design is the bold red and white walking track which weaves through the piece in the form of the Dragons Red V.

The 2025 Dragons Indigenous Jersey is now available through the Dragons Team Store with the 2025 Indigenous Hoodie also available via pre-order through the Dragons Team Store.
