The Dragons secured a three tries to one trial match win over the Wests Tigers at a sun-soaked Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon.
It marked a successful outing for the new-look squad who took to the field for the first time under new head coach Nathan Cross.
The Dragons, who were without NSW Under 19s duo Kasey Reh and Indie Bostock as well Sara Sautia (foot), showed plenty of ticker in defence in the win whilst showcasing some strong attacking moments across the 70 minutes.
Recently-named co-captains Raecene McGregor and Zali Hopkins earnt early marks whilst stars Teagan Berry and Hannah Southwell did not feature in the second half.
Berry made an early try-saver on Wests Tigers winger Claudia Nielsen before Southwell forced an error with a textbook bone-rattler whilst defending her try-line.
Not content with just the one, Southwell produced a near-identical effort moments later to force an end to another Wests Tigers raid.
Salma Nour was placed on report for a dangerous throw soon after with Berry finding a try out of acting half off it inches inside the corner post.
With the clash being a trial, neither side were kicking goals, so the score remained 4-0.
The Dragons did not take long to add to their advantage with Margot Vella streaking down the right touchline to score off a perfectly run scrum play in which Berry and Jayme Millard showed off some nice hands.
Caitlin Turnbull found some space down the right wing for the hosts shortly after only to be denied points courtesy of a desperate Shenai Lendill cover effort.
Jetaya Faifua claimed a try for the Wests Tigers soon after off a bungled Dragons kick defusal but was ruled to have lost it in the grounding attempt.
The visitors went close to answering several plays after the corresponding restart after Keele Browne burst into the backfield only for her final pass to go to ground.
The Dragons goal-line defence was again tested off it but again found a way to repel the hosts with Ella Koster coming up with a timely shot to jolt the ball loose.
The Wests Tigers were able to break through 10 minutes into the second stanza with Tiresa Leasuasu burrowing her way over to the right of the uprights out of dummy-half.
'A bit of confidence behind the girls': Co-captain Hopkins talks trial win
Millard went within inches of notching the Dragons’ third of the afternoon in the left corner but was ruled to have brushed the chalk prior to grounding the ball.
Lendill’s defensive nous was again on show just shy of the hour mark with the Dragons back rower forcing an error off a Wests Tigers scrum win.
The Dragons extended their lead off it with Browne charging her way over down a narrow short side in what proved the final say of the match with the Dragons holding on for a nice win away from home.
