ANOTHER DERBY

Few rivalries in rugby league compare to that of the Dragons and Sharks with the two preparing for their 55th showdown since 1999.

The fixture has produced many an iconic moment and the two sides will meet for the first time this season in search of their slice of local derby history.

The sides will also face off again in a Saturday afternoon clash in Round 23 at Jubilee Stadium.

A MILESTONE FOR MOSES

Moses Suli is set to play his 150th NRL game against Cronulla on Thursday night.

70 of those appearances have already come in the Red V after the Tongan international joined the club ahead of the 2022 season.

Suli debuted for the Wests Tigers as a teenager back in Round 1, 2017 before going on to spend four seasons at Manly.

He was rewarded with an international call-up for Tonga just two months after making the leap up to the top grade and has gone on to make 10 appearances for his nation, including three throughout their World Cup campaign in 2022.

Suli played his 50th match for the club in the side's Round 13 win over the Panthers last year and would finish the 2024 season having made 19 appearances and averaged a career-high 143 run metres per game.

HAME’S BACK

Hame Sele has been named to play his first NRL game since Round 23 last year in a welcome boost for the side.

It marks the culmination of a special NRL comeback for the Kingsgrove Colts junior who had his 2024 campaign ended as a result of pericarditis – a condition which causes inflammation of the tissue surrounding the heart – before overcoming calf and hamstring issues in the early parts of this season.

Sele returned to the Red V last year after having departed the club at the end of the 2018 season.

He spent a year with the Panthers before a four-season stay at the Rabbitohs where he made 49 appearances and was rewarded with a maiden international call-up for Tonga at the end of 2023.
