The Dragons are pleased to announce that Charlotte Basham has inked a contract extension with the club.
The deal will see the 19-year-old remain a Dragon until at least the end of the 2026 NRLW season.
An Australian Schoolgirls representative in 2023, Basham made her NRLW debut in the Dragons’ final game of 2023 just nine days on from her 18th birthday.
The Corrimal Cougars junior played an integral role in the Steelers’ run to a Tarsha Gale Cup premiership last year before helping lead the Under 19s Country side and the Under 19s Blues to decisive wins.
She made seven NRLW appearances in 2024 tallying 163 tackles at over 92 per cent efficiency.
“We’re really pleased to be locking Charlotte down for another year,” NRLW Head Coach Nathan Cross said.
“She’s a local junior from Corrimal and has progressed through our pathways system with Illawarra.
"We’re always focused on strengthening and supporting our pathways and ensuring that the players at those levels have role models and examples to look up to. Charlotte is an extremely hard worker who deserves everything that comes her way.
"Last year was her first full season in the NRLW and that will provide a terrific foundation for 2025. She’s been a pleasure to coach already and I’m looking forward to watching her development this year.”
Basham added: “It’s really exciting to know I’ll be a Dragon for at least the next two seasons. I’ve come through the system here and have some really good relationships with teammates and staff, especially the girls I’ve come through the grades with. I’m confident in the direction that we are headed and am excited for what the season holds.”
