De Belin to become 5th Dragon to play 10 Anzac Day matches

Jack de Belin is set to this Friday become the fifth player in St George Illawarra history to appear in 10 Anzac Day Cup matches.

He joins club legends Matt Cooper, Ben Creagh, Jason Nightingale and Ben Hornby as the players to have appeared on Anzac Day on at least 10 occasions.

De Belin made his first Anzac Day appearance as a 22-year-old back in 2013 in a side that featured Cooper, Creagh, and Nightingale as well as the likes of Brett Morris, Jamie Soward, and Trent Merrin.

His first Anzac Day Cup victory came in 2015 before repeating the feat in 2016, 2018, and 2022.

The 34-year-old is also 15 games away from becoming just the fourth player in St George Illawarra history to surpass the 250-game mark.

Fred de Belin, Jack's grandfather, enjoyed a decorated career for Balmain in the 1940s and would go on to represent the Kangaroos on eight occasions.

Whilst in the midst of his rugby league career, Fred de Belin enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force and flew 30 bombing missions in Europe before returning home after the war to link back up with Balmain.
