Dragons enjoy successful NSW Cup hit-out in Mudgee

The Dragons Knock-On Effect NSW Cup side came away with an impressive 58-6 win over the Magpies in their trial match in Mudgee.

The likes of Jesse Marschke, Connor Muhleisen, Dan Russell, Toby Couchman and Ryan Couchman put together strong opening stanzas before exiting the contest in preparation for the Dragons’ NRL Pre-season Challenge clash.

Tamale enjoyed a tremendous outing which included a powerful effort down the left touchline in which he shrugged away from a quartet of Magpies en route to a four-pointer.

Mathew Feagai – who snagged a try-scoring double – revelled in his opportunity in the No.1 jersey putting together a collection of classy touches combined with a steady work-rate throughout the match.

The scoring started early for Ben Woolf’s men with Feagai, Marschke, Tamale, Sione Finau and Dylan Egan all crossing for first half tries.

Feagai’s second came in the second half alongside a double for Welsh international Josh Ralph and a strong effort courtesy of back rower Jackson Shereb.

Ralph and halfback Jonah Glover both managed outstanding, long-range efforts to improve the scoreboard for the Red V and ensure the side left the Central West with a victory.

Their season opener comes against the Bears at Collegians Sporting Complex on Sunday, March 10th.
