Seniors treated to High Tea at the footy

“These scones are fantastic!!” “What a wonderful morning, last time I was here there was a dog track around the field.” These phrases and conversations echoed around the room as The Dragons once again hosted 120 senior guests to thank them in our own special way at the Dragons' annual 'High Tea at the Footy'.

The Dragons very much value the contribution our seniors make and have made to the community and reiterated this year’s theme for NAIDOC week ‘For our Elders’ to the local elders and guests in the room.

Invitees were from Warrigal Care, Hillside at Figtree, Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation Elders group, St George Community Transport and Blue Haven Care, Kiama. They travelled to WIN Stadium, Wollongong to watch the Dragons' final training run before they faced the Wests Tigers.

As a part of the function, held in the Chairmans Club of the western grandstand, guests enjoyed a high tea, entertainment from four-piece group Four Corners, a Q&A with NRLW players Bobbi Law, Tara McGrath-West, Tyla Nathan-Wong and Sophie Clancy and an impromptu visit from NRL interim Coach Ryan Carr.

St George Illawarra Dragons staff also joined and acknowledged our special guests.

The Dragons look forward to hosting this event each year. This event would not be possible without the generous investment from The Bevelsie Family Trust.
