Seven hundred and fifty-eight kilometres is the distance between Sydney and Melbourne as you soar above the clouds and through the sky but for James Loterzo, a passionate Dragons supporter and dedicated full season member, that seven hundred and fifty-eight kilometres is worth travelling to see his Dragons.
Born and raised in Kogarah, James and his family spent a few short years in Sydney before uprooting and moving to Melbourne. Whilst he has vague memories of attending a few Dragons home games as a baby and watching on TV back home in Victoria, it was enough for him to continue to support the Dragons from afar.
James set a goal to afford a full season membership and fly up to watch the home games regularly at both venues, to experience catching the action live and sharing memories with his partner. After many years of not being able to attend a Dragons game live, James finally achieved his goal. Everyone remembers the first game they saw live; it’s a long-lasting memory ingrained the hearts of those who experience it.
“I remember the first game I attended the first year I had my membership...it was Jack de Belin’s return game and the atmosphere that day was incredible"
Anzac Day clashes is also a big deal for James the planning, time and thought that goes into that weekend for him is an unwritten testament of his unwavering loyalty;
“I have to plan ahead for the trip up to Sydney for the Anzac Day clash... the 2022 clash was an amazing game seeing the Dragons hold the 14-12 win over the Roosters, it really made it special.”
