A strong Dragons KoE side had an off day to start their season against the Bulldogs as the curtain-raiser to the NRL clash between the Dragons and Titans and Nestrata Jubilee Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Despite being boosted by the return of Junior Amone as one of nine players with NRL experience, the Dragons could only cross for one try late in the piece to Tautau Moga in a 34-3 loss.

The Steelers produced a rollicking win at Collegians on Saturday against the Tigers, cracking the half century. Skipper and NRL train-and-triallist Dylan Egan bagged a three-minute double midway through the second half - one of three players to score twice along with halfback Ashton Ward and fullback Wesley Pring. James Walsh, Kyan Hjaltason and Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere also scored in the 54-4 result.

The Steelers were unfortunately run down by the Tigers at Collegians despite holding a healthy lead early in the second half. Brodie Breakspear, Daniel Meafou, Lucas Borg and Hayden Buchanan all scored in the opening 40. When Harry Middleton crossed straight after the resumption it was 28-18 but the Tigers scored the final two tries of the match and converted both to steal a two-point win.
