Dragons pathways: Round 6 wrap

A full wrap of all the St George and Illawarra Junior reps results, plus the Dragons' Knock On Effect Cup and Jersey Flegg sides.

Knock On Effect Cup

A strong Dragons KoE side had an off day to start their season against the Bulldogs as the curtain-raiser to the NRL clash between the Dragons and Titans and Nestrata Jubilee Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Despite being boosted by the return of Junior Amone as one of nine players with NRL experience, the Dragons could only cross for one try late in the piece to Tautau Moga in a 34-3 loss.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Jersey Flegg Dragons also suffered a heavy loss to the Bulldogs, this time at Collegians Sporting Complex. Ryan Hodgson and Cooper Roberts scored second-half tries for the Red V in a 32-10 defeat.

UNE SG Ball Cup

In one of three Dragons v Sea Eagles clashes held at Mascot Oval on Saturday, the SG Ball side earned a hard-fought 30-22 win. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga, Jesse Williams, Corey Ackers, Shadi Hammoud and Pat O'Connor scored the tries with Hammoud's five goals from six attempts proving crucial.

Harvey Norman Women's Premiership

It was a forgettable outing for the Dragons at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence on Monday night, going down 50-0 against the Central Coast Roosters.

The Steelers earned a hard-fought win at Hammondville Oval on Saturday, edging out the Bulldogs three tries to two. Keele Browne, Emma Tonegato and Rose Tafengatoto scored the tries with Rachael Pearson kicking two goals.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup

The Dragons enjoyed a big win at Mascot over the Sea Eagles thanks to a double from Jacob Halangahu and tries to Aiden Hodges, Bronson Emery and Xavier Ndaira. Ibrahim Charara kicked a perfect six-from-six.

The Steelers were unfortunately run down by the Tigers at Collegians despite holding a healthy lead early in the second half. Brodie Breakspear, Daniel Meafou, Lucas Borg and Hayden Buchanan all scored in the opening 40. When Harry Middleton crossed straight after the resumption it was 28-18 but the Tigers scored the final two tries of the match and converted both to steal a two-point win.

Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup

It was a tough outing for both of St George Illawarra's Tarsha Gale sides. The Dragons scored two early tries to Taneisha Gray and Leela Ma-Chong and while Oriana added another in the second half the side finished on the wrong end of 48-14 result.

The Steelers fared just as poorly at Hammondville Oval, losing 34-0 to the Bulldogs on Saturday.
