Dragons pathways: Round 2 wrap

There were some close results and a couple of byes across the weekend in the junior reps, with wins for the Steelers in SG Ball and Harold Mathews. 

UNE SG Ball Cup

Dragons

The SG Ball Dragons went down 18-10 to the Magpies at New Era Stadium with Nicholas Tsougranis and Nicholas Quinn scoring the side's two tries.

Steelers

The Steelers notched an impressive 34-20 win against the Storm in Victoria, keeping their opponents scoreless in the second half after leaking four in the opening 40. Seth Pearman scored a five-minute double late in the match to put the result beyond doubt with James Walsh, Wesley Pring, Kane Graham and Kyan Hjaltason also crossing and Taj Ford kicking five from six. 

Harvey Norman Women's Premiership

Dragons

It was a tough outing for the HNWP Dragons, going down 30-4 to Wests Tigers at New Era Stadium. Taimani Kolomaka scored the side's only try.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup

Dragons

After conceding three tries early the Dragons fought back well in the second half with Tukia Taufa and Cyrus Stanley-Traill scoring tries in the 16-8 defeat against the Magpies.

The Steelers notched a thrilling 18-16 win against the Central Coast Roosters, with Kade Reed's 55th-minute penalty goal proving crucial. Aaymon Fitzgibbon, Ezekiel Kennedy and Josaiah Clifford scored in the three-tries-apiece win.

Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup

Dragons

Goal kicking proved the difference in a narrow three-tries-apiece loss for the Tarsha Gale side. Mele Ketuu, Dena Nuuialii and Taneisha Gray crossed with Gray kicking the side's only goal in the 18-14 result.

SLE Laurie Daley Cup

The Illawarra South Coast under-18s couldn't match their round one form, going down 40-16 to the Monaro Colts in Shellharbour. Samuel Kennedy, Jackson Rieck and Darnell Te Ahuru crossed with Rieck slotting three goals. 

SLE Andrew Johns Cup

The Illawarra SC under-16s scored the final try of the match in a 20-all draw against the Colts. Axel Antony, Jake Talbott and Benjamin Askew score with Talbott's four-from-four off the tee - including a penalty goal - proved crucial.
