Game day guide: NRL Round 25/NRLW Round 3

The NRLW Dragons gear up for a historic night while the NRL squad look to finish the year with a bang. Here is your NRL Round 25 and NRLW Round 3 game day guide.

Blockbuster NRLW clash

The stage is set for the biggest match of the 2022 NRLW season so far when last year’s grand finalists come head-to-head.

Both the Dragons and Roosters picked up where they left off last season and are yet to drop a game. Friday’s clash will be the true yard stick to see where both teams rank and the perfect opportunity for Jamie Soward’s squad to get revenge.

Finishing on a high

The Dragons have one final chance to get the home crowd on their feet with a win over a desperate Brisbane Broncos side. Fortunately for the Red V faithful the Broncos haven’t won in Kogarah since 2007 and the Dragons hold a strong record over the Brisbane side winning five of their last six matches.

Anthony Griffin has named the same 17 that trumped the Tigers last weekend while the Broncos will be happy see Adam Reynolds and Pat Carrigan named on the team sheet.

Australian sports history

In a slice of Australian sports history, the Dragons will have the honour of opening the new Allianz Stadium on Friday night. The Dragons and Roosters’ NRLW clash will be the first professional match at the venue following its redevelopment.

Party poopers

Even though the finals series won’t feature the Red V, the Dragons have to power to decide if the Broncos make it or not.

If Kevin Walters' men beat the Dragons they go to 30 competition points, two clear of the Canberra Raiders, who play Wests Tigers on Sunday in the final game of the regular season.

If the Broncos and Raiders both win then eighth spot will be decided on points differential which at this stage sits in Canberra's favour by 43 points. But if the Broncos can’t beat the Dragons, they can kiss their finals hopes goodbye.

Score Dragons curtain raiser

After extreme weather prevented the annual clash between the Score Dragons and Score Raiders earlier in the year, the highly anticipated match will finally take place.

Now in its eighth year, the St George Illawarra Dragons community program Score Dragons continues in popularity and is enjoyed by all involved. You can see the Score Dragons team here.
