Illawarra Rugby League announce Mojo Homes Cup Magic Weekend

The Illawarra Rugby League have announced the Mojo Homes Cup Magic Weekend will take place on Saturday, June 4 at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.

With support of the participating clubs in the Mojo Homes Illawarra cup competition, all 2022 Round 6 Mojo Homes Illawarra Cup matches will be played at the one venue on the same day.

The Round 6 matches will see some exciting matches including a local derby between Dapto and Corrimal, new entries De La Salle play Helensburgh as well as Cronulla-Caringbah Sharks up against Thirroul Butchers.

The day will be punctuated with a huge clash between traditional rivals and the competition’s top two teams, Collegians and Western Suburbs Illawarra.

The Illawarra Rugby League have taken the opportunity to implement this Magic Weekend with limited NRL matches taking place.

Illawarra Rugby League Operations Manager Nigel Roy said: "This is a great opportunity for supporters of rugby league to come and watch the Illawarra's premier local competition.

"With the St George Illawarra Dragons having a bye weekend, we hope to see a huge crowd turn out for all of the Mojo Homes Cup Magic weekend action."

The Illawarra Rugby League also acknowledges the efforts of all grass roots clubs to keep rugby league competitions going given the current wet weather being experienced.

"While we have implemented the Mojo Homes Cup Magic weekend, we are also working hard behind the scenes to keep all competitions proceeding despite the limited availability of fields capable of hosting fixtures throughout this unprecedented wet weather," Roy said.

To encourage the whole rugby league community to attend, entry for the games is priced as per normal: $8 for adults and $4 for concession holders. Children Under 16 are free.

Tickets will need to be purchased through WIN Stadium's ticketing partner Ticketmaster from midday, Friday onwards. The Illawarra Rugby League encourages patrons to pre-purchase tickets to avoid any delays in getting into the stadium.
