A 77th minute try to Corey Allan has gifted the South Sydney Rabbitohs a 24-20 victory over St George Illawarra Dragons at Metricon High Performance Centre on Saturday.
Both sides were locked in a gruelling battle as the Rabbitohs raced out to an early lead after tries to Dylan O'Connor and Rhys Kennedy, although the Dragons fired back through Luciano Leilua in the 13th minute.
South Sydney held onto their 16-6 half-time advantage as the Dragons clawed their way back to lead 20-18 with just three minutes remaining, with Allan's try, and ensuing conversion from Mawene Hiroti, giving them their second win of the 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW season.
