Heading to Perth?

If you are heading to Perth for the NRL Nines, stay and play!

Rottnest Island

With 63 white sandy beaches, it's easy to see why the people of Perth proudly declare Rottnest Island (or "Rotto") their very own island paradise. Located a short ferry ride from the mainland, Rotto has shot to international fame due to its native inhabitant – the quokka. The small, furry and very cute marsupial became an internet sensation after it was declared the 'world's happiest animal' – amplifying the social media trend, the #quokkaselfie. Celebrities including Margot Robbie, Roger Federer, Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman have captured their own quokka selfie so don't miss out on getting one! Rotto also has an abundance of natural assets, including some of WA's best swimming, snorkeling and surfing beaches.

Festival time in Perth

During the month of February, Perth and surrounding areas come alive as Fringe World Festival and Perth Festival take over town. Come and catch Feb Fever from February 7-16, as both events cross over and Perth becomes the ultimate festival destination. Artists bursting with creative vibes will pop up in venues across town including some fun and unexpected hot spots. With hundreds of events on show, there's a huge array of entertainment to please absolutely everyone.

Get crafty with local beers

Fremantle is the birthplace of Australia's flourishing craft beer scene, with the first big-flavour, small-production brews poured at the Sail and Anchor bar, where you can still sample tasty local creations. Check out other unique and seasonal craft beers at Fremantle's Little Creatures or The Monk – or see how local beers and cold cider are bringing extra flavour and attitude to traditional wine regions such as the Swan Valley (Mandoon Estate, Feral or Mash, for example) and Margaret River (try out Black Brewing Co or Eagle Bay).
