The St George Illawarra Dragons celebrated their return from the first bye of the season with a scrappy 16-12 win over the Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon at ANZ Stadium.

Dragons duo Tyson Frizell and Josh Dugan managed to get through State of Origin unscathed but the former was unfortunately injured against the Tigers.

Skipper Gareth Widdop returned too, while Tim Lafai signed a three-year deal to remain at the Red V until the end of the 2020 season.
