St George Illawarra Dragons halfback Benji Marshall has been ruled out of the fixture against the Gold Coast Titans at UOW Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Friday.

The Keebra Park junior was unable to overcome a recent hamstring strain despite training midweek and will miss out on playing his 250th first-grade fixture in the NRL.

Marshall, 31, will continue his rehabilitation and will be assessed ahead of the Round 20 home fixture against Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Sunday, July 24.

“Unfortunately Benji has pulled up with some hamstring tightness and given his history we think it best he be rested,” said Head of Medical and Performance Tony Ayoub.

“Benji had trained earlier on in the week but Club medical staff thought it best he not play so that he can focus on continuing his rehabilitation.

“It is no secret that this would have been his 250th first-grade game but the important thing now is that when he does return and reach this milestone he is playing at a hundred percent.”
