St George Illawarra Dragons second-rower Joel Thompson has suffered a minor hamstring strain and will miss the fixture against the North Queensland Cowboys at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.

The NSW Country Origin representative suffered the ailment during the 16-12 loss to the Parramatta Eels at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta on Saturday.

Thompson will continue his rehabilitation program and is expected to be available for selection against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in Round 18.

“Joel suffered a minor hamstring strain and will be unavailable this round as he continues his rehabilitation protocols with the view of re-introducing him in time for next week,” said Dragons High Performance Manager Mark Andrews.

Additionally, Dragons utility Dylan Farrell suffered a stress break to his back in the same fixture and is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks

Farrell will commence his rehabilitation program and is expected to be available for selection against the New Zealand Warriors in Round 20.
