St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team centre Izaac Thompson is ready to step-up against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.

The local Kingsgrove Colts junior is in the midst of his second season with representing the Young Dragons and was part of the squad which reached the Preliminary Final last season.

Unfortunately, the Young Dragons have yet to notch a win from their first three outings of the season which the centre concedes is disappointing and not a reflection of the squad’s work rate in training.

Thompson admits the team realises they need to halt the losses if they are to mount a similar title challenge and is ready to play his part in doing just that against the Sea Eagles.

“The effort was there but it wasn’t meant to be and we were unlucky in execution against the Raiders,” said Thompson.

“There are a few things that definitely need to be worked on for next week and hopefully it comes together in front of our home crowd.

“The team have been working hard in training but for whatever reason it is not coming together on the field.

“We know this needs to change quickly and we’re putting our hand up to make it happen.

“The Sea Eagles are going to give us a challenge but all the boys are ready to face whatever is thrown at us.”
