The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that Craig Garvey has been reinstated into the fulltime first-grade squad after consultation and approval by the NRL.
It is acknowledged that Garvey was found guilty of an assault offence in September and was required to undertake Community Service.
The facts in relation to this circumstance are as follows:
On his admission of being involved in a licensed premise fracas in February 2014, Garvey was suspended by the Club for breaching the Club’s Code of Conduct and the NRL Integrity Unit was informed
The suspension was lifted after some four weeks following a full investigation by the Club and Integrity Unit
In September he appeared in Court for his action and was sentenced to Community Service
At this point, he was again suspended from the Club’s football activities until this statement
Throughout his time away from rugby league, the Dragons and NRL have worked with Craig from an Education and Welfare perspective and have now reached the conclusion that he is able to return to training with an adjusted NRL playing contract that includes confidential clauses in relation to his behavior as a result of this incident.
Garvey has joined his team mates and the Club will make no further comment on this matter.
