St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Gerard Beale is relishing his time at fullback and is eager to test himself against the Brisbane Broncos when they take them on at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Friday.
The New Zealand international spent most of last season watching from the sideline and began this campaign in the centres before being shifted to the custodian's role by Head Coach Paul McGregor in recent week.
The 24-year-old knows the Red V will have to dig deep to come out on top against his former club who are in ninth and also eager to continue their run to the Finals.

“We have a lot of quality in the backline so it’s awesome to be back at fullback,” said Beale.
“We’re still trying to find our strengths and how to use them to our best abilities.
“Last year I was injured but I’m really excited to see where we can take it before this season is out.
“I’m still adjusting to being back at fullback, but I think I’m definitely improving each week; I need to build off my performances.
“We’ve had two good wins now so we’re looking to make a third, but we know it’s going to be a tough game up there in Brisbane.
“I’m still learning how to a fullback and I want to keep improving, the game against the Broncos will be a good test of my abilities.
“It’s going to be a big game against the Broncos, as we are both in the same position trying to stay alive.
“They are going to pull everything out and we have to go up there and match that.
“We have to focus on our game and individually we need to focus on our role.
“It’s going to be a tough match up in Queensland but I know we have the ability to overcome them and come away with the two points.”
The Logan Brothers junior admits he is not worried about possible New Zealand selection at the end of the season but would welcome the opportunity if invited to play.
“I’m focused on the Dragons first of all and trying to get into the Finals,” said Beale.
“However, if I get selected for New Zealand at the end of the year it would be a bonus but all I can do now is play good footy and do my best for the team.”
