St George Illawarra Dragons centre Josh Dugan is confident the team can gain the two competition points when they clash with the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Friday.

The NSW Blues representative knows if the Red-and-Whites know that a dominant performance is required if they are to build-up their points differential which will play a large role in whether they make it to the Finals.

Despite injuring his shin against the Gold Coast Titans, the 24-year-old is certain he will be fit and ready to play against the Queensland side.

“Our points differential is going to be a big factor if we make it near the top eight,” said Dugan.

“We said after we lost to Penrith that we wanted to win our next four games and so far we’ve won two from two.

“We know it’s going to be a tough one up in Brisbane but the boys are going to be up for it.

“I can feel how confident we are around the club, we’ve become a lot closer as a playing group and our attitude has improved a lot over the past few weeks.

“We’ve been getting right into the game and enjoying each others’ ability to be there and being there for each other.

“I think for and against will be a massive factor if we were to get closer to the eight; we’ve been keeping sides to two or three tries and we’re improving every week.

“We need to treat the game against the Broncos as any other game and play with the emotion we’ve been playing with over the last couple of weeks.

“Broncos’ season is on the line too and they need to win their next two if they’re going to get into the eight.

“It’s going to be a tough game up there and the victor will have the chance to play Finals or not.

“My ankle is fine, it was actually my shin that was injured; I went and had scans on it and they all came back positive, but I’ll speak with the medical staff and see where we go from there.

“I’m pretty sure I’ll be right to play on Friday, I just need to monitor it over the next few days.”
