The St George Illawarra Dragons have confirmed that rising young-gun Charly Runciman has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at the Club until at least the end of 2016.

The St John’s Dubbo junior is a graduate of the Dragons National Youth Competition team and made his first-grade debut for the Dragons against the Penrith Panthers in round 16 last season.

Runciman, 20, who was originally identified by the Dragons High Performance Unit department, has previously been selected for the NSW Blues U20s State of Origin team (2013) and is pleased to be continuing his development at the Club.

“It is great to be staying at the Dragons for at least the next two seasons,” said Runciman.

“I have been here for several years now and am very thankful to have had the opportunities to progress through the lower ranks at the Club.

“Making my first-grade debut and wearing the Red V jersey last season is a stand-out memory for me and I will continue to work hard to build upon that.”

Dragons CEO Peter Doust is delighted that Runciman has come to terms to remain at the Club.

“Charly is a wonderful talent who has been in our development pathways for several years,” said Doust.

“His attitude to training and his university studies is first class and he is already a great role model at just 20-years of age.

“We are pleased that Charly has elected to remain at the Dragons for at least the next two years and we look forward to his continued progression and valuable contributions to our Club.”
