Illawarra Cutters halfback Drew Hutchison has backed his teammates ahead of the Preliminary Final fixture against the Newtown Jets at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday.

The Cutters are in the midst of their preparation for the grand final qualifier having been afforded a seven-day respite as a result of their earlier 32-22 Qualifying Final victory over Wests Tigers at UOW Jubilee Oval, Kogarah.

Hutchison will welcome fellow St George Illawarra Dragons teammates Taane Milne, Jacob Host and Kurt Mann back into the fold for the upcoming fixture and notes that each player is determined to give it their all.

“We’ll be working harder and harder throughout the week, and the following week for our next game and we’ll be trying to secure a Grand Final spot,” said Hutchison.

“We have a few of the first-grade players returning as they played with us at the start of the year so they’ll just come back in and do what they’ve done throughout the year.

“Taane Milne is a class player and has played a lot of first-grade in recent weeks so I am confident he will slot back at right centre and do the job for us.

“The players all know their role, and I think they’ll bring a lot of energy, and look to go deep into the season with us, so they’ll just slot straight back in.”
