St George Illawarra Dragons prop Mike Cooper says he is excited to have been selected in the England squad for the upcoming Test Series against New Zealand.

Cooper was part of the English squad last year but is yet to make his debut for England. He hopes to go one better this time around and get his first international cap.

“I was 18th man for the last two games [in 2014] and only got out there for the warm-up”

“It was a step closer but it was hard as well not to be given that jersey especially the day before the game when they present the jerseys and you don’t get one it can be pretty upsetting.”

“That really pushed me this year and there were a few times when I was feeling tired at training or in a game and it gives you a boost to make sure you try and get picked for your country.”

Cooper is currently in camp with club teammate Gareth Widdop. England’s international schedule kicks off on Saturday October 24 with a match against France before a three game series against New Zealand in early November.
